Keep Right

At the age of 19 I was a sophomore in college, was unmarried and pregnant. In the 2016, that is not that big of a deal, but back in 1976 ... it was HUGE! I really thought I would just get married and have my baby and live happily ever after. Ever heard: If it sounds to0 good to be true, it probably is? Yeah ...

Well, I did give birth to a baby boy on April 29 ... a child I have yet to meet ... a child I placed for adoption. I had chosen life even though abortion was legal. I cannot honestly answer, "Why?", other than to say, God was looking out for me and the baby, and I am sure glad I did choose life. I became a statistic and began wearing the label: birthmom - a term often given to a woman who has placed her baby for adoption.

Twenty-eight years later, I spent a Lent facing my decision and moving towards a healing that I chose to ignore. I named my son TJ. I began to speak publicly about the choice of adoption ... hopefully encouraging young parents to at least consider the choice of adoption. It is my goal to educate the public that it is truly out of love, hoping a child will receive something better than what birthparents can offer, that a child is placed into the arms of someone else.

My life experience has come full circle. I have a daughter that has not been successful in conceiving. Through very generous birthmoms - not one, but two - I am a grandma to a granddaughter and a grandson.
